to 455 mm SL
Endemic to the Sanaga River Basin of Cameroon.
to 455 mm SL
Endemic to the Sanaga River Basin of Cameroon.
Diagnosed by the following combination of characters: 12 circumpeduncular scales, a moderately elongate body, post-orbital standard length 3.2–4.4 times as long as deep; elongate snout, 1.8–2.5 times the post-orbital length of the head; and uniform dark coloration sometimes with a darkened band between dorsal and anal fins.
Snout tubular and very elongated, 19–31% of the standard post-orbital length and 1.3–2.5 times the post-orbital length of the head. The snout length may be especially elongate in individuals greater than 300 mm SL. Dorsal profile gently convex, then turning downward sharply between eye and end of opercle. Snout may be gently curved downward. Ventral profile of the head concave. Mouth terminal and small.Chin with moderately elongated submental filament, its length 0.8–1.77 times the diameter of the eye. Teeth, conical, three in the upper jaw, four in the lower. Nostrils close together, separated from the eye by 1.3–3.2 times the eye diameter, closer to the anterior border of the eye than to the end of the snout. Eye small, 3.6–4.95 times the post-orbital length of the head. Dorsal fin, 27–29% of the standard post-orbital length, with 28–32 rays; anal fin, 30–33% of post-orbital standard length, with 31–34 rays. Caudal peduncle length, 16.5–22.6% of standard post-opercular length, and 21–33% of caudal peduncle length. Twelve circumpeduncular scales; 76–82 lateral line scales; 21–22 scale rows above the lateral line,18 below the lateral line and above the pelvic fin. Caudal fin scaled, deeply forked. To 455 mm TL.
Coloration: uniform brown with a dark band between the anterior-most dorsal rays and anterior-most anal rays.
