Affinities: M. meronai. Relatively close to M. furcidens which is found in the same geographic setting in Côte d'Ivoire. A fractional spawner (Ref. 10605; 10606).

General Description:
Modified from Bigorne (1990):
Teeth bicuspid. Dorsal origin at same level as anal or slightly behind. Dorsal with 23–29 rays and anal with 27–34. Lateral line with 50–65 scales and 12 around caudal peduncle. Uniform light brown coloration in alcohol.
