Gnathonemus barbatus
Poll distinguished this species from other Gnathonemus and in particular G. petersii by its fewer number of scales in the lateral line (45–47) and a deep body: length to height ratio of 1.9. Respective values for G. petersii based on MRAC specimens according to Poll are 58–65 and 2.7–3.2.
Apparently only known from the type locality: Caluango, Camaloa River, tributary of Luangue River, Angola. See FishBase for museum records and localities.
