General Description:
From Boulenger 1909, p. 44
Depth of body 6 1/3 times in total length, length of head 4 2/3 times. Head twice as long as deep, with straight upper profile; snout rounded, projecting beyond mouth; width of mouth 2/3 length of snout; teeth truncate, 14 in each jaw; eye moderate, its diameter once and ½ in length of snout, twice in interocular width. Dorsal 45, nearly 3/4 length of anal, originating nearly twice as far from end of snout as from base of caudal. Anal 70, originating considerably in advance of dorsal (17th ray corresponding to first dorsal), and nearer head than base of caudal. Pectoral rounded, 1/2 length of head. Caudal very small, scaled at the base with rounded lobes. Caudal peduncle hardly as long as deep, 1/6 length of head. 102 scales in lateral line, 12/15 in transverse series on body, 16 in transverse series between dorsal and anal, 14 round caudal peduncle. Blackish brown.
