Phylogeny:
A molecular study in Levin & Golubtsov (2017) demonstrated that this species is not a Pollimyrus, but instead very close to Cyphomyrus psittacus.
Distribution:
Lower White Nile, Blue Nile, Murchison Nile.

Range Description:
This species is known from Sudan, Ethiopia and Uganda.
Eastern Africa: It is present in the Murchison Nile.
Northeast Africa: It occurs in the White Nile, Blue Nile, and Nile at Khartoum, Sudan. It is also found in Baro River, Ethiopia.
