Translation from French of original description by Boulenger 1915:
Depth of body 3 2/5 times in total length; Head length 3 3/4 times. Head similar to M. caballus BLGR., but vertical diameter of snout more considerable; 2 blunt teeth in upper jaw; 7 blunt, truncated teeth in lower. Dorsale 64, beginning slightly before base of ventral, 3 times longer than anal. Anal 24. Caudal with obtusely pointed lobes. Caudal peduncle 2 1/2 times as long as high, 1/2 length of head. Scales 110 35/30, 18 around caudal peduncle. Brown, lighter below. Total length: 355 mm.
