Type material:
Holotype (unique): BMNH 1897.9.30.25.
Taxonomic notes:
Only known from unique type specimen. No further specimens have been collected from the type locality at Wagenia Falls near Kisangani, one of the most collected sites on the Congo River. Counts are similar, though not identical, to those from Marcusenius leopoldianus, a species not recorded from Wagenia Falls. Further study needed.
