Potamodromous. Migrating within streams, migratory in rivers, e.g. Saliminus, Moxostoma, Labeo. Migrations should be cyclical and predictable and cover more than 100 km.

Extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) for this species are probably too large to qualify it for a threatened status, although the species is present only in five river basins (based on the threats affecting populations at present, this is more than five locations). Deforestation, leading to high sediment loads is impacting the species. A decline in EOO or AOO due to a degraded habitat may cause the species to qualify for a threatened category under Criteria B1 or B2.

Range Description:

This species is known only from the rivers Como, Bandama and Sassandra in Cote dIvoire, and confirmed presence in Bia and Tano rivers in Ghana (Abban, pers. comm.)
